FACE
ENHANCEMENT SURGERIES:
An area of the body that is constantly visible to us and the rest of the world is our face. The face is out there for the world to photograph – selfie, Snapchat, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc. There are features of our face that we try to capture at that perfect angle in our selfies to not draw attention. As a plastic surgeon, facial enhancement procedures are a large part of what I do. They are popular among all age groups, races, and genders. The ability to change a facial feature in real life to what we see in a filter or Photoshop is powerful. – Dr. Chet Mays
RHINOPLASTY & LIQUID RHINOPLASTY
A common surgical procedure I perform is rhinoplasty, AKA the nose job.
Some patients who present for nasal modification are not interested in surgery and want a quick fix to an issue. The non-surgical nose job has become a popular procedure. It creates results without the need for nasal surgery or days away fromwork or activities. The non-surgical rhinoplasty uses the same injectable soft tissue fillers that I use for plumping the lips, smoothing the skin or lifting sagging tissues. The procedure can be called many names. The liquid rhinoplasty, the no-hassle or non- surgical nose job. The procedure focuses on the small changes that can be achieved with dermal fillers. Dissolvable and reversible, a few tiny injections of the filler can equal big improvements in the nose. One of the most common issues treated with non-surgical rhinoplasty is a pronounced bump along the nasal bridge called the dorsal hump. The filler injections can plump up the area around the bump, giving the illusion of a straight nose. Other improvements
Whether it is a little hump reduction or tip work, the nose is a structure that can be modified surgically by removing or adding components. Most of the rhinoplasties I perform are cosmetic but every now and then there is a functional component, and the patient is having difficulty breathing that can be addressed with their rhinoplasty. The results from the open rhinoplasty gradually reveal themselves during the recovery process as the swelling goes down and the definition becomes apparent. The best candidate for rhinoplasty is a healthy patient who has attributes to their nose they wish to change. In facial aesthetics we discuss facial proportions all the time and keeping proportions symmetric will yield the best result. A patient whose nasal features are out of proportion to the rest of the face is a good candidate because we can reduce the size of the nose to improve the proportions of the face.
