In addition to our industry-leading comprehensive deep energy reduction analyses, which inform our ESRT 2.0 plans at the building and tenant levels, we partner with policymakers at the city, state, and federal levels to drive a resilient grid. Our plan to accomplish our goals is to continue to implement these measures, perform evaluations of emerging technologies, and scope opportunities for on-site or community-based renewable energy generation and storage where viable. Our commitment to reduce energy consumption in our buildings is based on a critical tenet of the NY Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and LL97. Buildings must reduce their energy usage by 50% combined with a CLCPA renewably sourced grid in order to achieve legislated targets.

We have promoted energy efficiency throughout our portfolio since 2007, when New York City began its environmental leadership under Mayor Bloomberg. ESRT’s participation includes work on city, state, and federal policy and legislation.
