ONE SANDWICH AT A TIME ESRT partnered with One Sandwich at a Time, a grassroots, nonprofit, NYC-based organization that has helped feed over 100,000 New Yorkers with their simple mission to drive change with just one sandwich. ESRT colleagues made nearly 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our breakroom that were immediately donated and distributed to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. Additionally, ESRT made a monetary donation to support this organization.
SANDY HOOK FOUNDATION ESRT colleagues volunteered at Sandy Hook Beach State Park in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, through the Sandy Hook Foundation, whose mission is to protect the beautiful and historic land and beaches there. Volunteers spent time walking trails to collect litter and microplastics along the coastline and dispose of them properly to protect one of New Jersey’s unique maritime ecosystems.
UNIVERSITY SETTLEMENT ESRT hosted two separate groups of students from various New York City high schools at the Empire State Building for an interactive career panel with University Settlement, a historic NYC nonprofit that offers a full range of support from early childhood education and youth development to older adult programs, housing protection, art programs, and mental health care for all. In addition, ESRT hosted Technology Workshops with the elderly to offer personal education on various technologies and devices and to answer any technology related questions. We donated laptops to those who did not have their own and trained them how to use them to communicate with family members on Zoom and other useful capabilities.
BLOOD DRIVES Annually, we partner with the New York Blood Center to host multiple on-site blood drive events for colleagues and tenants who can donate. Our colleagues gave blood this year, which is enough to save at least 18 lives! 11
