The Edison Township Board of Education is pleased to offer summer programs for the youth of Edison Township and the surrounding communities. We are offering programs for students entering grades 1 through 12. These programs are designed for students who enjoy self- directed learning and exploration and are actively engaged in their learning. These courses are designed as enrichment classes and sports camps that will help children develop certain skills, but they are not strictly aligned to the curriculum the students are engaged in during the school year. Children will not be graded or formally assessed during these summer programs, however they will receive feedback from their instructors throughout the program. No transportation is provided. Lunch and beverages are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Summer Program Policies Edison’s Enrichment & Exploration & Sports Camps 2025 LATE PICK-UPS Please remember all children need to be picked up on time! Students must be picked up at the appropriate time for their program. Students are not permitted to wait unattended for another student in a different program offered at the school. Therefore, parents are responsible for picking up their children on time, even if arrangements are made through carpooling. Two (2) late pick-ups may result in your child being dismissed from the program without a refund. VIDEOTAPING Edison School Network (ESN-118) may visit our Summer Programs to videotape our activities. Highlights from these programs program may be shown on Channel 118 or used on the district Youtube page. If you have an objection to your child being videotaped, please write a note to the Summer Programs office and give it to your child’s Enrichment/Activities teacher or sports coach. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Please be aware that summer construction projects may be taking place on school grounds, which could result in noise and smells. We make every effort to minimize student exposure. In addition, buildings are not air-conditioned, so please make sure that students are appropriately dressed. DISTRICT ISSUED DEVICES Devices: The students will be using district devices for Edison’s Enrichment & Exploration Program. However, they will not be using their individual devices from the school year. Instead they will use extra devices that will be stored at the Enrichment & Exploration Program. The Summer Activities classes will not require a device for their program. All district issued student devices should be returned to their schools as usual in June. Remember that the same technology policies are in effect for the summer regarding care of the device and ensuring that it is used for school-related use only. Please note that students will be using their district emails for the programs. COURSE & CAMP DESCRIPTIONS Please make sure to read the course/camp descriptions carefully before selecting courses with your children. Some programs will require you to purchase materials or have access to certain sports equipment or instruments in order to participate in the course. RECEIPTS If you require a receipt (besides your online confirmation), you must put your request in writing and send it to the Edison Public Schools - ATTN: Summer Programs, 312 Pierson Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837 or emailed to summer.programs@edison.k12.nj.us. All requests must be received before August 31, 2025 so that we may verify your child’s attendance. All receipts will be issued by September 30, 2025.

Sports Camp: When you register online, you will receive confirmation immediately that your registration was successful. If a sports camp is cancelled due to lack of participation, we will attempt to give you several days notice of the cancellation. enrollment of each class/program/camp on a first enrolled basis. Registering as soon as possible is recommended to assure a place in the class/camp you want and to protect against cancellation due to insufficient enrollment. Once the programs begin, there will not be an opportunity to change courses/camps due to the limited enrollment opportunities. SCHEDULING The Summer Programs Administrative Staff reserves the right to limit the REFUND POLICY All tuition fees include a non-refundable $30.00 registration fee per class/camp. Since classes/camps are approved based on a sufficient number of paid registrations, course/camp fees excluding the $30 registration fee will not be returned for any reason after the class/camp has started. The Summer Programs Administrative staff reserves the right to cancel any class/camp in which registration is insufficient. In that case, a full refund will be issued, or you may transfer to another class/camp that is still available. All refund requests must be in writing and received via the summer.programs@edison.k12.nj.us no later than Friday, August 9th, 2025. All refunds will be processed after August 18th, 2025 , through your Community Pass account. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR POLICY For the safety and enjoyment of all summer program participants, any inappropriate behavior by Activities/Enrichment/Sports Camp students may result in dismissal from the program. No refunds will be issued if your child is dismissed for inappropriate behavior. All district technology agreements must be followed throughout the Summer Program. COVID Protocols The Summer Programs will follow all current CDC and district guidelines during this time. COVID-19 protocols will be followed at all times according to CDC guidelines and are subject to change. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, a refund will NOT be issued.
All Summer Program registrations will not be complete until the required Code of Conduct is signed by a parent.
Summer Activities The Summer Activities Program is for children who completed kindergarten or first grade in the 2024-2025 school year. The Summer Activities Program is designed to engage learners in fun activities that enhance their academic, physical, and social skills. In this class, students will be exposed to a variety of early education theme- based, hands-on activities including children’s literature, math, science, art, and physical activity. Activities vary from day to day. Topics may include but are not limited to bubbles, insects, camping, beach fun, oceans/ocean animals, sports, colors, favorite characters, 4th of July, etc…. Students will be encouraged to brainstorm, think and construct creatively, investigate, discuss, and problem- solve, all of which are critical learning goals in Edison’s early childhood classrooms. The Summer Activities Program is an opportunity for students to interact with children from other schools, and have a good time while doing so. All of the teachers are certified teachers from the Edison Township School District. The Summer Activities Program offers two sessions each day (8:30- 11:30 a.m. and 12:00-2:00 p.m.), with lunch from 11:30-12:00 for children enrolled in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Morning Care is also available from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

The Enrichment & Engagement Program combines academic skill-building with creative exploration, featuring courses ranging from math and writing to drama, science, and technology. Students can sharpen their core abilities while discovering new passions in this diverse learning experience. ENRICHMENT & EXPLORATION CLASSES ARE IN-PERSON FROM June 30, 2025 TO July 25, 2025 at J.P. Stevens High School. There will not be any programs or activities held on July 3rd and 4th.
Students may select one-hour or two-hour classes for the morning and 1 two-hour class in the afternoon (please check the schedule that is listed after course descriptions).

The Enrichment Program is an 18-day program. All classes run from June 30th - July 25, 2025.
The fees cover the entire 18-day program. Each class has a non-refundable $30 registration fee.
Since the summer programs require a considerable amount of planning to be successful, registration deadlines will be adhered too! Please plan accordingly!
Cartooning Fee: $130 This class is for students who are interested in learning how to create cartoon images. Participants will explore existing cartoons, as well as create their own original ones. Career Connection: Cartooning skills can lead to exciting careers in animation, graphic design, comic book illustration, or even marketing, where visual storytelling is a valuable tool. Textile Art 1 Hour Grades 3-8 Fee: $130 1 Hour Grades 3-8 This popular textile art class with a focus on sewing skills offers students the opportunity to explore creative expression through fabric manipulation, stitching techniques, and design principles. Participants learn essential sewing skills through hand stitching techniques and pattern creation while incorporating artistic elements like embroidery techniques, appliqué, sewing buttons, beads and weaving designs. Career Connection: Sewing skills is a life skill that can enhance career readiness by fostering precision, creativity, time management, and problem-solving abilities that are valuable in various professional fields. Arts & Crafts 2 Hours Grades 3-6 Fee: $190 Students will get an opportunity to create arts and crafts with paper products such as egg crates, paper plates, towel rolls, craft sticks, and cereal/shoe boxes. You will be amazed at the variety of projects you can create by recycling products. You can create bird feeders, puppets, banks, games, holiday decorations, picture frames, castles and multicultural creations. Career Connection: This course fosters creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on skills that can be applied to careers in design, marketing, education, and handmade product businesses. Drawing/Painting 2 Hours Grades 3-8 Fee: $190 Our fun drawing and painting class provides students with the opportunity to develop foundational art skills while exploring various mediums such as colored pencil, watercolor, and acrylic paint on various surfaces. Participants will learn techniques in shading, blending, color theory, and composition to create expressive and visually impactful artwork. Career Connection: This drawing and painting class enhances career readiness by developing creativity, visual communication, problem-solving, and time management skills essential in artistic and design-related fields. Comics and Manga 1 Hour Grades 3-8 Fee: $130 Dive into the exciting world of Manga & Comics this summer! In this dynamic class, young artists will learn to create their own original characters, develop expressive faces and action-packed poses, and bring stories to life through visual storytelling. Explore panel design, speech bubbles, and the art of pacing to make your comics engaging and fun to read. Whether you love anime, superheroes, or graphic novels, this class is the perfect place to unleash your imagination and have a blast drawing and sharing your ideas with fellow artists! Clay & 3D Creations Fee: $190 Unleash your creativity this summer in Clay Creations & 3D Design! In this hands-on class, students will explore the exciting world of sculpting using a variety of materials, including clay, Model Magic, and plaster. Creativity & Sustainability 2 Hours Grades 3-8 Fee: $190 Calling all young artists, eco-warriors, and creative champions! Get ready to turn trash into treasure, transform ordinary materials into mind-blowing masterpieces, and become a sustainability superhero in our epic Summer Creativity and Sustainability class. Pack your creativity, leave boring behind, and let’s make art that changes the world!! Career Connection: Students will learn mind-blowing eco-skills and discover how creativity can launch incredible careers in design, innovation, and environmental solutions. Fee: $190 Our "Painting with the Masters" course invites students to explore the techniques and styles of renowned artists throughout history in a fun and creative way. Through guided instruction, students will study famous masterpieces, learning brushwork, color theory, and composition while developing their own artistic voice. By recreating iconic works and applying these methods to original pieces, participants gain a deeper appreciation of art history and improve their painting skills. Readers Club Fee: $130 In Reader’s Club, students will join a book group to read and discuss a novel together. They will participate in book talks, literature circles, book celebrations, and "write like the author" days. With choice and engaging activities, this class helps foster a true love of reading! Career Connection: Reader’s Club helps you practice reading, discussing stories, and sharing ideas — just like authors, book reviewers, and librarians do in their jobs! Creative Writing 1 Hour Grades 3-6 Fee: $130 1 Hour Grades 3-6 A fun, interactive class to help young writers unlock their creativity and improve their writing skills. Students will learn the essential ingredients of great fiction and build their writing skills from grammar and punctuation to vocabulary and story structure. Topics include beginning poetry, genre fiction, and high interest nonfiction. Whether beginners or experienced writers, they’ll build confidence and a strong writing foundation. Career Connection: Strong storytelling skills are essential in careers beyond writing, including marketing, public relations, law, and business leadership. Students will learn how effective communication, creativity, and narrative structure are used to engage audiences, persuade clients, and build compelling brand stories. Journey Through the Genres 1 Hour Grades 3-8 Fee: $130 In Journey Through the Genres, students will explore Narrative, Expository, Persuasive, and Descriptive Writing using the writing process. They will read and analyze various examples, and then apply their skills to create and publish their pieces. Students will also present their work creatively while gaining confidence in tackling different types of writing. Career Connection: Journey Through the Genres helps you practice writing stories, articles, and opinions — just like authors, journalists, and bloggers do in their jobs! Catch the Podcasting Bug 1 Hour Grades 3-6 Fee: $130 Students will discover the power of storytelling through audio and learn how to create their own podcasts on topics that matter in the real world. They'll have the opportunity to research, script, record, and produce their own episodes, while learning key skills such as public speaking, editing, sound design, and digital publishing. Students will collaborate with peers, interview “guest” speakers, and gain practical experience in creating content that resonates with listeners. Career Connection: Students will explore how podcasts are used in journalism, education, entertainment, and business, giving them insights into how this medium has become a powerful tool for communication and influence in today's world. Wizarding World of Harry Potter 2 Hours Grades 4-8 Fee: $190 Calling all witches and wizards! In this class, students will explore the world of Harry Potter through crafts, games, writing, and online activities. This class is ideal for any Harry Potter lover- whether they are new to the world of Hogwarts or if they have seen every movie and read all the books! Career Connection: This class connects to careers in creative writing, game design, and event planning.

Experimenting with Science Fee: $190 Discover the wonders of science through hands-on experiments in our Experimenting with Science summer class! Young scientists will explore multiple science fields by creating reactions, building simple machines, and investigating the world around them. Get ready for an exciting summer of curiosity, discovery, and fun-filled learning! 2 Hours Grades 3-8 Career Connection: This class introduces students to real-world scientific concepts and problem-solving skills, inspiring future careers in fields like engineering, investigation, and environmental science. Forensic Explorations 1 Hour Grades 4-8 Fee: $130 The learner will become familiar with the various methods utilized in forensic science to solve crimes through math, science, and technology. Students will learn about the history of forensic science, how to classify fingerprints, apply techniques like chromatography, blood spatter analysis, and dental impressions, reconstruct a crime scene, and solve a murder mystery. Due to the popularity of this class, classes will be based on grade levels. Career Connection: Learn what it’s like to be a Forensic Scientist or Crime Scene Investigator. Summer STEM 2 Hours Grades 5-8 Fee: $190 This STEM summer course offers a hands-on, engaging experience where campers explore science, technology, engineering, and math through fun activities, projects, and real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Career Connection: Students will focus on all areas of science, chemistry, physics and biology. Students will work on projects and solve problems that mimic real-world scenarios, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Culinary Arts Fee: $190 In this hands-on culinary enrichment class, students will explore fundamental cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and food preparation skills. Through engaging labs, they will create delicious recipes while learning about nutrition and teamwork. This course fosters creativity and confidence in the kitchen, making cooking a fun and valuable life skill. 2 Hours Grades 3-6 Career Connection: This course introduces students to careers in the culinary arts, including chefs, nutritionists, and hospitality professionals. Poetry in Motion Fee: $190 This summer enrichment class invites elementary students to explore the beauty of poetry through engaging activities, creative writing exercises, and interactive readings. Math Improvement Fee: $130 The main focus of this class is to improve math skills, as well as challenge the students with upcoming mathematical concepts. In order to meet the needs of all students, instruction will be varied and allow for opportunities for group problem solving and independent practice. Due to the popularity of this class, classes will be based on grade levels (3-4, 4-5 and 5-6). 1 Hour Grades 3-6 Career Connection: By developing strong mathematical skills and collaborative problem-solving abilities through this course, students can establish a solid foundation for future careers in fields like engineering, data analysis, or education, where critical thinking and teamwork are highly valued. Origami 1 Hour Grades 4-8 Fee: $130 This class offers a creative and enjoyable way to explore the exciting world of origami. Through simple origami folding techniques and construction, students will examine mathematical concepts such as two-and three-dimensional shapes, patterns, puzzles, angles, perimeter, area, symmetry and tessellations. Once students have completed their origami pieces, they will have the opportunity to write a story, dialogue, or create mini-movies about their creations and will showcase their work to the class. Career Connection: This class connects to careers in architecture, design, and education. Escape Room 1 Hour Grades 4-8 Fee: $130 Get ready for an adventure that combines critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork in our Escape the Room summer enrichment course! In this exciting and interactive class, students will embark on a series of mystery-filled challenges where they will need to solve puzzles, decode riddles, and unlock clues to "escape the room". Each puzzle and riddle is designed to boost their math, reading, and language arts skills in a fun and engaging way. Career Connection: This course relates to real-world jobs by fostering essential skills like problem- solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and time management, which are valuable in almost any career. Fee: $190 Unlock the full potential of your brain in our Brain Games summer enrichment course! Lego Challenge 1 Hour Grades 3-6 Fee: $130 In the LEGO Challenge course, students will embark on an exciting journey where creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills come to life through the magic of LEGO bricks! Students will tackle unique, hands-on building challenges inspired by real-world problems and careers. From designing cities to creating functional machines, students will learn how engineers, architects, and inventors shape the world around us. Introduction to Coding Fee: $130 This course introduces core computer science and programming concepts. The course is designed for use with grades 3-6 and will help students grasp the fundamentals of computer coding by 1 Hour Grades 4-8 introducing programming language using a Blockly format. Students will gain a deeper appreciation for technology, strengthen problem solving skills and create projects using several different coding apps to help them understand computer science and computational thinking. Career Connection: This course connects to careers in software development, data science, and technology engineering. Disney Imagination 2 Hours Grades 4-6 Fee: $190 Calling all Disney nerds and enthusiasts! This class is your opportunity to not only learn about all things class Disney, but also experience what it is like to be a Disney Imagineer. We will discover how Disney designs theme parks, and utilizes immersive storytelling throughout their parks, attractions, songs, and films. We will also take a scientific look at the technology behind Disney roller coasters and ride design. With games and virtual field trips, it's sure to be magical! Career Connection: This course connects to careers in theme park design, engineering, and entertainment. Genius Hour Fee: $130 Genius Hour helps students develop essential career skills like problem-solving, creativity, and independent research. By exploring their passions and presenting their ideas, students gain experience in project management, communication, and critical thinking—key skills for future success in any career path. Career Connection: Genius Hour provides skills which are valuable in fields such as engineering, entrepreneurship, and design. 1 Hour Grades 4-8 Speaking Skills Fee: $130 Welcome to Public Speaking: Express Yourself with Confidence! This engaging and interactive class is designed to develop their speaking skills, become effective communicators, and boost their confidence. Whether you're a beginner or just looking to improve, this class provides a fun and supportive environment for students to express themselves, build confidence, and communicate clearly in front of others through creative exercises and hands-on practice. 1 Hour Grades 3-8 Career Connection: Did you know that public speaking is a skill that can open doors to many exciting careers?
