N EUSCHWANSTEIN C ASTLE The controversy over whether it was really a castle because it was not old and was built by Mad King Ludwig was lost on her. She enjoyed history but was more drawn to the visual and her imagination would conjure up any number of romantic stories. She and her grandson were traveling through Germany on what they called their ‘Castle Tour’, so of course, this was a must see. After a roadside picnic of their favorites (hearty bread, ham, cheese, pickles, paprika potato chips, and a few sweet treats) they hopped on the shuttle that would take them up the steep road to the castle. It was awesome.
