N OTRE D AME She was an independent traveler and often embarked on a trip without reservations and a flexible schedule, usually in a rental car. This year, however, had been an exceptionally busy and stressful year and she simply did not have the energy that was required for a serendipitous road trip. An advertisement for a last-minute trip to Paris popped up. . . seven days, the first week of December, hotels and details taken care of, a small group and a discounted price. . . she booked it. And, even better, it meant she would spend her birthday in Paris. She had been to Paris many times, but always wanted more time to explore and photograph on her own. She would be free of distractions that can occur when traveling with friends or during the summer amidst hordes of tourists. That trip she felt like she gained a new insight into Paris. A more quiet and intimate view of the city that she had never experienced before. She loved this image of Notre Dame, and it became even more endearing to her after the tragic fire. This was the memory she would keep in her mind until it was restored.
