WHY DOES YOUR HUB EXIST? The Hub creates a space where young people can explore technology in its different aspects. We provide a one-stop space where professionals, entrepreneurs and startups can get together to share ideas, innovate, grow, and learn. We help startups that lack the necessary guidance to sustain their businesses and provide a space that will nurture the entrepreneurial spirit. HOW IS YOUR HUB ACHIEVING ITS GOAL? We do that by kick-starting an incubation programme to support entrepreneurs through key stages of their growth. We provide them with crucial skills needed during this stage. Our flagship robotics programme for kids and digital literacy programmes are aimed at providing young people in and out of school with the requisite skill sets to entrepreneurship community supported by the International Trade Center and the EU, as well as being the representative of Startup Huddle of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, The Hub continues to be at the centre of the entrepreneurial journey for entrepreneurs across sectors in The Gambia. ride the digital transformation journey. WHAT ROLE HAS AFRILABS PLAYED IN YOUR HUB’S JOURNEY? With the AfriLabs Hubs learning series, we improved our management methods and strategies. This includes initiating a partnership with one of the biggest telecom companies in The Gambia in building an accelerator programme. The wheels are still in motion on this. Additionally, through the AfriLabs Capacity Building Programme, we continue to build capacity internally and are able to incorporate new ideas into the running of The Hub as well as diversify our business model long-term and short-term. The AfriLabs platform also provides us with collaboration opportunities with other hubs within the network, which came very handy during the formative stages of our accelerator programme.
