WHAT IS YOUR HUB’S MOTIVATION? Youth Business Cameroon (YBC) was created with the main goal to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment. Our hub is committed to the promotion of entrepreneurship as well. HOW IS YOUR HUB ACHIEVING ITS GOAL? We raise awareness and carry out sensitization to campuses. We do capacity building and entrepreneurship evaluation. We also have a concept startup weekend that we developed for startups, and a coaching and mentoring programme. We mainly do meetup programmes; our main concern is unemployed graduates - they are our target. We invest in the youth by going to the universities and have developed some programmes. It is very challenging to have school curricula without entrepreneurship education, so, our NGO is there to help fill the gap between what our target
group is taught at school, and what they are not, which is entrepreneurship education. We teach through training activities and crucial workshops. Today, we have a strategy that helps us to develop entrepreneurship clubs on the campuses in schools, universities, and colleges. WHAT ROLE HAS AFRILABS PLAYED IN YOUR HUB’S JOURNEY? I believe in networking; I am part of two global financial networks. I believe in teamwork and being part of AfriLabs has been really useful for this. Also, learning how to get grants and finding hubs (through the AfriLabs network) that can support us and show us the best practices has been helpful.
