start-ups on a mission KUBATANA MAGAZINE | OCTOBER 2022

WHAT PROBLEM IS YOUR STARTUP TRYING TO SOLVE? Innkeeper is a Job-tech venture that provides talent development and matching services to Corporates and Startups. The platform is driven by the need to support organizations with top African talents for tech- related roles. Through our constant interactions with employers, we have been able to identify the skill-set required to remain relevant in the workplace, especially in the tech space. Hence, we upskill individuals on these in- demand tech skills to enhance their employability chances, thus solving the talent skill gaps. We facilitate access to learning opportunities for in-demand skills with an emphasis on mentorship through our blended learning approach. As a result of our continuous interactions with employers, we are able to quickly spot the gaps, which ensures we always have an updated curriculum necessary to fill the skill gaps.

WHAT CHALLENGES ARE YOU FACING IN ACCOMPLISHING THAT TASK? We have achieved proof of concept and we are at the stage where we need to build a Beta version of our platform from MVP, hire key team members, and produce digital content that will enable us to serve more young people. WHAT ROLE HAS THE HUB PLAYED IN INFLUENCING YOUR STARTUP? 8thGear as an Independent Venture Studio has played a critical role in the growth of Innkeeper, ranging from advisory to facilitating conversation with potential investors to ensuring that we are kept abreast of happenings and opportunities within the ecosystem. WHAT MILESTONES HAVE YOU ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR? In the last 16 months of our existence, we have been able to train over 250 students and place over 80% of them in jobs. Furthermore, we are happy to have partnered with

over 30 organisations and entrepreneurs to meet their talent needs.
