Welcome
As a seasoned fashion writer and editor, there’s little I love more than a scour around the hidden gems of my favourite city, London, which I’m lucky enough to call home. Despite the bounty of options that shopping in the capital presents, there’s one area I always return to: Carnaby. I was raised on a diet of stories from my parents about their time spent in London before moving to the suburbs, and Carnaby, with its smorgasbord of shops, bars and restaurants, features heavily in them (alongside tales of rubbing shoulders with various members of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones). Thankfully, Carnaby’s as free- spirited and fashion-forward today as it’s always been. First things first: start a day of retail therapy with a coffee. I’ll pick up an oat milk flat white from Carnaby’s Department of Coffee and Social Affairs or Soho Grind . Denmark’s finest, GANNI , is a firm favourite of the style set and this year is all about easy-breezy silhouettes and bright, bold prints, something GANNI has purveyed since its inception. GANNI bags in tow, I’ll then head to IKKS Paris , which has made its UK debut on Carnaby Street. Its Breton tops and classic leather jackets will be coming home with me, as will its comfy everyday lineup t-shirts (because, really, you can never have too many). Annie's Ibiza is my next stop. The brains behind it, Annie Doble, handpicks each creation herself and it's the perfect place for those who like to make an impact. I’ve got my eyes firmly on Doble’s fit-and-flare mini dresses, which are crying out to be debuted as part of my wardrobe. Next, I’ll squeeze in a laser facial at Skin Laundry (a must- have for glowing skin) and pick up some beauty essentials from Pixi (I swear by its formidable Glow Tonic) before popping into Benefit for the best mascara money can buy. For the men in my life, I'll swing by Aubin , Scotch & Soda and Diesel for all manner of crisp staples. These are among the best curated menswear stores in London, stocking everything from button-up shirts to cool everyday jackets. Finally, you might find me ploughing into the chilli chicken at Dishoom , the KFC at Korean Dinner Party or the beef tartare at Bar Crispin . Carnaby has over 60 restaurants for hungry shoppers to choose from, meaning there’s something for every mood. Stomach and shopping bags full, I’ll then hail a taxi and head home.
