Big Balade commémore les 400 ans de l’Ontario français

Le nom de Big Balade en est un que l’on entendra souvent en 2015, puisque ce groupe, formé de jeunes musiciens dont plusieurs sont originaires la région, a vu sa chanson choisie pour commémorer le 400 e anniversaire de l’Ontario français. Avec leur son funky-groovy-pop, Mathieu Gauthier, Gabrielle Dubois et Sarah-Anne LaCombe, qui ont fréquenté l’École secondaire catholique régionale de Hawkesbury, Julie Séguin de Wendover, qui étudiait à l’École secondaire catho- lique L’Escale, et Donald Charrette, qui vient de Timmins, ont concocté une chan- son qui passera probablement à l’histoire au même titre que Mon beau drapeau de Brian St-Pierre ou Notre place de Paul Demers. La composition a été sélectionnée par- mi 32 œuvres originales par un jury consti- tué de professionnels de l’industrie, de représentants de la radio et des membres de la communauté culturelle. On était très excité. Au début, c’est Sarah-Anne et moi qui avons initié la chanson et on l’a partagé avec le groupe. On a mis toutes nos trippes pour créer un hymne entraînant et rythmé qui encourage les gens à porter fièrement leurs couleurs et à célébrer 400 ans de présence francophone. C’est un regard sur le futur, comment on se projette dans la diversité et la solidarité.
