Newsletter SPORTS NEWS CIF 4-AA State Champion Aztecs Honored with City Parade

Barstow Unified School District and the City of Barstow hosted a victory parade for the CIF State 4-AA Football Champions, the Barstow High School Aztecs, on Saturday, February 7. Coaches, players and families marched from Barstow Road and Main Street to City Hall, led by the Aztec Marching Band and Color Guard, the Aztec Cheer Squad and Aztec Dance Team, as fans cheered them on the entire route. At times, the crowd was cheering so loudly it almost felt like a Friday night at Langworthy Field . Upon arriving at City Hall, the team was welcomed by District, City, State and National representatives. The team was congratulated for its victories and received Certificates of Achievement from city, county, state and national representatives. The team was given a proclamation from the City of Adelanto, as well. The Aztecs’ Marching Band and Color Guard, Cheer Squad and Dance Team each performed for the crowd and BUSD Athletic Director Vince Williams was given a standing ovation for his hard work providing opportunities for our student-athletes in all sports. The celebration concluded with the Aztecs presenting Barstow Mayor Tim Silva with a game-used ball from the team’s 17-7 CIF 4AA State Championship victory over Sutter Union. Thank you Aztec Nation for your support of the Aztecs’ Football Team, the first team in the High Desert to win a CIF Football State Championship. Truly, history was made.
