TRAVEL
I
REMEMBER PICTURING AND hoping to smell the beautiful deciduous, fragrant, bell-shaped, two-lipped leaves almost three hours away by air as the young couple shared their stories to me—especially how Taipei stands out from the thirty- one other cities in twenty countries they have visited—over a cup of coffee in our hometown called Malabuyoc, southern Cebu, the Philippines. Let’s delve into the fascinating beauty and breathtaking splendor of Taiwan’s capital city, as it holds the 3 4th edition of Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) at the Taipei World Trade Center, where tens of thousands of people from around the world including guests and exhibitors are currently attending and will certainly be sharing the same noteworthy stories about Taipei to their family, friends, and colleagues back home. Q: What makes Taipei and your experience there different from, if not better than, the thirty other cities you’ve visited and experienced? A: Taipei is different from the other cities that we’ve travelled to, so far, because it is very laid-back yet its structures and technology are very modern. It is not crowded with tourists, and the locals are very friendly and charming. Q: Now that you have two equally beautiful daughters, Safira Skye and Stacey Serene (who have traveled with you to Europe and Singapore), would you and Stanley want to visit Taipei again, this time with the girls? If yes, where would you like to take them first, and why? What do you want them to experience in Taipei, and what do you hope for them to learn from their experience there?
Taipei is home to an estimated population of 2,766,334 and is indisputably one of the top favorite travel destinations among international tourists including my niece, Atty. Jenny Ann Allera Pimental Tibon, who experienced her first winter in “The City of Azaleas” six years ago, together with her husband, Atty. Stanley Pabroa Tibon. METEORIC GARDEN PARADISE
