Senator Susan Collins Visits Volk Packaging In Biddeford, ME According to an article in the Portland Press Courier , U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) visited Biddeford, Maine based Volk Packaging on September 3 to tour the facili- ty and speak with employees. During the pandemic, Volk Packaging has been deemed a federally designated es- sential manufacturer and supplies corrugated shipping containers to food and medical suppliers. “Safely reopening our communities requires an in- crease of personal protective equipment and other med- ical supplies, and Maine businesses are leading the way,” Collins said. “I commended the dedicated workers at Volk Packaging who are helping businesses distribute sup- plies made right here in Maine that are needed to fight COVID-19. I am pleased that the Paycheck Protection Pro- gram I co-authored helped support the jobs of these hard- working Mainers.” Volk Packaging received a forgivable Paycheck Protec- tion Program (PPP) loan to help the business stay afloat and continue paying its employees during the pandem- ic. Many of the businesses Volk Packaging serves have also received forgivable PPP loans. Since its launch in early April, more than 28,000 Maine small businesses and self-employed individuals have received nearly $2.3 bil- lion in forgivable PPP loans.

inexpensive and both customer and supplier flourish. For- tunately, Baysek made the decision several years ago to have a machine on the floor to perform demonstrations and for R&D projects and improvements. It’s serving a new virtual purpose now.” Turkoglu’s Baysek C-170 die cutter is set to ship at the end of September and will be installed by Baysek Machines & Engineering U.K. Technical Director Andrew Keighley upon arrival in Istanbul. This provides continued operation despite current foreign travel bans. Baysek con- tinues to provide 24-hour customer care world-wide be- tween both U.S. and U.K. locations. “You must be creative and willing to adjust,” said Hel- bach. “Our preference is for personal visits, but you must be willing to do whatever it takes to care for existing cus- tomers and to accommodate new ones. The importance of the supply chain becomes more apparent and amazing every day. Thank you to everyone who is a part of it.” Kiray finalizes, “We have opened a new potential door to Baysek machines in Turkey. It took a little bit longer than it would have if the pandemic had not occurred, but ev- eryone was patient to work through the process and the result was positive for everyone. This is the first C-170 die cutter in Turkey, so it is an exciting time. We look forward to continuing to work with Turkoglu and others who are interested in our equipment.”
