Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

East Division The Division includes areas generally within the following boundaries: Oakland Boulevard / Miller Avenue to the west, Highway 10/city limit line to the north, city limits to the east and Mansfield Highway to the south. Sections under this division include Patrol Operations and the Community Operations. The Community Operations portion of the Division is comprised of the Neighborhood Police Officers and the East Criminal Investigation Unit. East Division historically presented unique challenges to the Department in its efforts to establish and maintain solid, productive relationships within the community, but recent initiatives present great opportunities for building a successful and cooperative rapport. East Division historically has one of the highest crime rates per capita in the City, which is the reason a primary goal for East

Division is to leverage the ability of FWPD to organize members of the community, volunteers, and other city departments to help create a stable foundation for neighborhood revitalization within the community. Collaborating with the Housing and Economic Development Department, Neighborhood Engagement Department, local communities, places of worship, and citizen volunteers, the FWPD recognized the role every police officer plays in enhancing neighborhoods and in re-establishing pride and commitment of the residents who live there through shared trust. Currently, the National Initiative effort in the Cavile Housing Development is one of the first strategic areas for concentrated interdepartmental efforts throughout the city beginning in FY17, to clean alleyways, mow the lawns of abandoned properties, remove bulk trash quickly, demolish dilapidated structures, increase lighting, install camera systems, increase safety and security. Initial efforts by the Department to begin improving Cavile are already underway in the form of a coordinated Drug Market Intervention program designed to stop open-air drug markets and ultimately reduce violent crimes. FWPD staff will identify future neighborhood projects in similar socioeconomic areas in coordination with neighborhood stakeholders to promote pride, commitment, and redevelopment throughout the city.
