The Special Operations Section includes the Mounted Patrol Unit and the Special Events and Emergency Response (SEER) Unit. The Mounted Unit has regular patrols, specializes in crowd control events, and accepts many public relations assignments. The Mounted Unit enjoys positive public relations, as they attend school career days, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo events, parades, protests, and other highly visible public activities. SEER is responsible for coordinating and organizing major special events including TCU games, Texas Motor Speedway races, Fourth of July activities, and major emergency responses. As part of the Strategic Plan, the Narcotics Unit will create a K9/Drug Parcel Interdiction Unit. Fort Worth is a major location for private shipping companies, freight carriers, and the U.S. Post Office. Drug trafficking organizations use these agencies to ship illicit narcotics and currency to the "demand" areas of the country. In response to this issue, FWPD will create a Drug Parcel Interdiction Unit to aggressively investigate and eliminate drug parcel shipments in Fort Worth. Investigators will spend 100%of his time on surveillance of known violators, computer research of shipments, visually inspecting the exterior of parcels, and also interacting with other agencies to target and prosecute major violators. The dedicated drug parcel interdiction investigator would conduct daily inspections at all shipping locations, intercepting illegal drugs and money. In addition, the investigator completes search warrants on suspicious parcels and freight, and routinely conducts controlled deliveries of the narcotics to drug trafficking organizations awaiting the arrival of the narcotics. The drug parcel interdiction investigator works with the DEA, ATF, ICE, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Secret Service, U.S. Postal Service, and the law enforcement agencies K9/Drug Interdiction Unit
