Tactical Intelligence Division The Tactical Intelligence Division includes the following two sections: Information Management and Intelligence. Information Management Section (IMS) is divided into two components: the Crime Analysis Unit and the Real Time Crime Center (RTTC). The primary responsibility of the RTCC is to provide police officers enroute to calls “real-time” reports, information, support, tips, leads, and monitoring. The Intelligence Section is divided into five Units: Electronic Surveillance, Homeland Security, Criminal Intelligence, Dignitary Protection, and Criminal Intelligence. International terrorism and other emergent threats are concerns for law enforcement agencies across the United States. The Homeland Security Unit (HSU) monitors traditional intelligence channels as well as social media; they investigate all reported threats. HSU coordinates movements and security for visiting dignitaries. Over the past year HSU has provided security for Ex-Presidents, current Presidental and Vice-Presidential Candidates, and several other national and international leaders visiting Fort Worth. HSU also works with mental health service providers to contact and assist individuals with mental health issues who are displaying dangerous behavior. The Department is exploring the possibility of creating a Mental Health Unit to better serve these individuals. The Dignitary Protection Unit are plainclothes officers assigned to the Mayor’s Protection Detail. Dignitary Protection travels with the Mayor within and outside of our jurisdiction, and contribute to the overall protection of city council members during organized public meetings at city hall. Police officers staff a RTCC that is equipped with a video or data wall. When fully developed, the data wall will provide a multi-faceted surveillance capability allowing the monitoring of multiple crime hot spots and high-risk targets simultaneously. The goal of the RTCC is to develop the use of the data wall to its fullest potential by sharing data feeds with outside sources and institutions and enhancing surveillance of significant events taking place in Fort Worth. FWPD is currently investing in a Citywide Real Time Crime Center Real Time Crime Center (RTCC)
