Age Statistics Fort Worth is a relatively young city compared to current national and state demographics. The 2010 U.S. Census Bureau reported a median age of 31.2 in Fort Worth, 33.6 in Texas, and 37.2 overall in the United States. Researchers forecast the life expectancy for persons over the age of 65 will grow in coming years as members of the baby boomer generation reach (and surpass) that age. It is the anticipated growth within this demographic that will increase the demand in services from FWPD. Figure 2.6 displays the age distribution in Fort Worth.
