Auto Etching A representative of the Police Department will etch the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the windows and other parts of the vehicle free of charge at various locations throughout the city. Parks Community Policing The purpose of the Parks Community Policing program is to provide a safe environment for the public and staff at all Park and Recreation Department facilities and sponsored programs by having an officer present at specific sites and events. Gang Graffiti Abatement The Gang Graffiti Abatement Program‘s mission is to eliminate and discourage graffiti throughout Forth Worth through abatement, educational strategies, and increased community involvement. Patrol officers are using body cameras to take photos of graffiti that they come across and then send those photos to the Park and Recreational Department.

Homelessness Program The City of Fort Worth is a partner in the community-wide effort to end chronic homelessness. The City provides resources to community and faith-based organizations for services. The FWPD’s Patrol Bureau assigned a homelessness liaison police officer to be a resource in the Near Eastside Neighborhood on East Lancaster near downtown where several homeless related services are located. FWPD also operates a neighborhood storefront facility in the area. What to Do When Stopped by Police Since 2004, the Fort Worth Black Police Officers Association (FWBPOA) has provided presentations and conducted workshops on how to react during police encounters including when a citizen is pulled over while driving or while walking down the street. The presentations and workshops are provided to community centers, churches, youth groups, schools and other interested groups. The program’s goal is to educate citizens about the proper way to conduct themselves during police encounters and to reduce the community’s fear of police. The program also explains the rights of citizens. The workshop begins with an open discussion with participants to talk about issues they may have experienced or are experiencing with law enforcement. The open discussions are conducted in an honest, transparent manner where law enforcement officers listen to community concerns and offer
