WRITTEN BY JULIO JIMENEZ

Attending the RC National Men’s Convention in January 2024 proved to be an exceptional experience for RC Calgary, and provided an opportunity for our locality within Regnum Christi to unite, bond, and rejuvenate our manly spirits. We can emphasize the sense of connection and inspiration that arises from being surrounded by like-minded individuals. Witnessing the collective celebration of Mass, the harmonious singing of hymns, and the church filled with men undoubtedly ignite a sense of unity and purpose among participants. The presence of influential speakers such as Fr. Shawn Aaron, LC, Fr. John Bartunek, LC, Peter Friessle, and Frank Hanna III, coupled with personal testimonies like that of Vincent Nowaczewski, further enriches the convention experience, providing valuable insights and motivation for attendees. One of the key takeaways from the convention is the importance of fostering collaboration and communication within the RC community. The emphasis on working together, avoiding silos, and aligning efforts towards the greater evangelizing mission of RC underscores the commitment to collective growth and development. Furthermore, the convention prompts reflection and strategic planning for the future. We were encouraged to engage in collaborative decision-making processes, identifying common goals and projects to pursue in the coming years. This collective planning fosters a sense of ownership and shared responsibility within the community, ensuring alignment with the overarching mission of RC.

The convention served as a platform for learning and personal growth. We gained a deeper understanding of Regnum Christi as a vocation. We were introduced to valuable formation resources aimed at equipping both ourselves and fellow Calgary members with the necessary tools for spiritual and personal development. Perhaps most notably, the convention signifies a broader shift in perspective, as evidenced by the decision to change its name from the National Men’s Convention to the North America Territory Convention. This change reflects a recognition of the convention's inclusivity and reach beyond US borders, encompassing the diverse and interconnected RC community across the entire North American Territory. The RC National Men’s Convention served as a catalyst for growth, unity, and inspiration within the RC community. By fostering connections, sharing experiences, and promoting collaboration, the convention empowered Calgary Men leadership to deepen our commitment to Regnum Christi and advance its mission of evangelization in the world.
