This Phone Call From Hulu Started It All WE WON 5 BIZBASH AWARDS!

CHATTER the box

A Quick Word From Our Clients

I had no way of knowing back then that “WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn” starring Ashton Kutcher would be a Hulu smash hit. But it was! Even though we didn’t go into that studio looking for the spotlight, Eventique’s phone started ringing off the hook with calls from companies who wanted the WeWork treatment. Until that moment, my team and I had never tried to score positive press. From 2006 to 2021, we focused on growing, paying our bills, and creating memorable, inspiring events our clients could be proud of. Those are still my top priorities, but the Hulu documentary opened my eyes to the benefits of awards and recognition. I’ve rarely seen my team so inspired, or our clients so excited! Suddenly, we had momentum. As the text messages of congratulations poured in (and honestly, they’re still pouring), I realized that Eventique has crafted a lot of moments worth sharing with our industry, community, clients, and potential clients. We started an initiative to spread the word.

In early 2020, I got a phone call from Ross Dinerstein, a movie producer working on a project for Hulu.

“Eventique is about purpose and people. The team is creative, loyal, respectful, and hardworking. And they’re always focused on the purpose of their work. Besides executing amazing experiences for guests, they’re skilled at crafting the meaning and message behind every event. They all have big hearts, and it shows. For these and many other reasons, Eventique is a favorite client of ours.” –Nancy Landrum, President & CEO, Velocity “Many thanks to the entire Eventique team for their excellent work with CSW! We look forward to the next opportunity to work with them!” –Johannes Lang, UN Women

“Hey Liron,” he said. “My team is filming a documentary about WeWork, and we’ve heard that you produced some pretty epic events for them. People are still talking about those parties, even though they were years ago! We’d love to hear more about the work you did for the WeWork brand. Will you come into the studio and tell us your story?” I couldn’t believe it. Me? On a documentary?! I almost said yes immediately, but then I thought better of it. “I’ll do this,” I told Ross, “but only as long as you realize that I’m very proud of the work we did with WeWork. If this documentary is about bashing the brand and what happened

BizBash has been particularly generous, recognizing our events year after year. Just last month, they named Eventique events the best in five categories of their 10th Annual Event Experience Awards and awarded us five finalist spots, too! (Turn the page to read more about those wins and our history of recognition.) I love sharing these wins with my team and our clients. It’s amazing to celebrate the partnerships we’ve built, the magical moments we’ve created, and the impressions we’ve made on tens of thousands of people. The Hulu documentary was just our first taste. If one of the events we created for you in 2022 won big, I hope you’re as excited as I am. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to make magic for you!

If history is written by the winners, then Eventique will be writing the next generation’s event-planning textbooks! Over the last five years, Eventique events have scored more than 20 accolades at the annual BizBash Event Style and Event Experience Awards. “These wins are exciting for us, and they’re exciting for our clients as well,” says Eventique Vice President of Creative and Strategy Eric Weilander, who spearheaded the creative teams of both winning events in 2022. “They validate our hard work and give our clients’ companies and causes wonderful visibility.” Eventique’s wins are increasing every year. Here’s a quick look at the company’s award-winning event portfolio from today all the way back to 2018. 2022 Metapurse’s Dreamverse

In the face of COVID-19, Eventique pivoted to virtual events, crafting 3D environments that felt real enough for guests to touch. One standout was The Toy Insider’s Sweet Suite, where attendees could “walk” through a virtual trade show filled with booths representing the world’s most influential toy brands, including LEGO and Nintendo. There, they chatted with sales representatives, watched demonstration videos, and browsed products in real time. The event was a hit with its guest list of media reps, VIP influencers, and YouTube content creators — not to mention the BizBash judges.

Dreamverse blew BizBash’s judges away because Eventique pulled off something close to impossible: an NFT art gallery! Guests walked past walls of light displaying digital artwork by more than 150 artists and enjoyed a first-ever jaw-dropping view of Beeple’s famous NFT art piece “Everydays: The First 5,000 Days.” “We tapped into our music concert experiences and treated ‘Everydays’ like a performance; it was designed for a stage, to be simultaneously viewed by thousands of people,” Eric told BizBash at the time. The $69 million collage of more than 5,000 digital images dominated New York’s Terminal 5, looming over a crowd entranced by the beats of DJ Alesso.

You don’t win Best Fundraising Event of the Decade by thinking inside the box! You need incredible creativity — and that’s exactly what Eventique delivered for the Humane Society of the United States’ To The Rescue! Gala. Eventique reimagined the gala’s home at Cipriani 42nd Street and turned it into a talk show stage. There, host Jerry O’Connell challenged “Mutts” cartoonist Patrick McDonnell to a draw-off between impassioned animal rights discussions and performances by the likes of country star Gavin DeGraw. The centerpieces were as inspired as the acts: Each table featured a mind-blowing hologram of an animal in motion!

Margaux Fox Is Poppin’!

JUST WRAPPED

MEET EVENTIQUE’S BALLOON EXPERT AND PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

While most of her 20-year-old peers were busy swapping lecture notes and comparing Tinder matches, Margaux Fox was up to her neck in balloons. She started her very own balloon installation company — POPPIN by Margaux Fox — as a teenager, foreshadowing a career in event design that eventually led her to Eventique. “I did a couple of balloon installations for friends’ birthdays, and from there, POPPIN grew!” Margaux recalls. “More and more people wanted them. Eventually, I started doing restaurant openings as well as company parties, graduations, family birthday parties, and all of that good jazz.” Margaux’s vision went far beyond balloon arches and selfie station backgrounds. Her secret to success was high-quality balloons clustered in “thick and bountiful” organic shapes. By the time she graduated college, POPPIN was serving both her hometown of Stone Harbor, New Jersey, and her college city of Charleston, South Carolina. Then, Margaux graduated with her degree in hospitality and events. She stashed her balloons in a Stone Harbor closet and set off for New York City. “I knew I loved events and I was looking for jobs in the city because I wanted to move to New York. Eventique really drew me in! When I saw the level of events they’ve produced, I knew I wanted to do that, too,” Margaux says. Margaux landed a job as one of Eventique’s production coordinators. Today, she works directly under Production Manager Cara Berger, helping organize drives and manage vendors.

A Smashing Global Success

Welcome to “Just Wrapped,” a monthly summary of what our team has been up to. Every year, we plan events like corporate parties, virtual experiences, concerts, and charity galas. This list is just a small peek behind the curtain. Scale Facilitation Office Opening Celebration Eventique recently partnered with the innovative venture capital firm Scale Facilitation on the launch of its new North America office at the One World Trade Center in New York City. The team designed and executed an intimate, upscale soirée for more than 200 of Scale Facilitation’s employees, leadership, investors, and clients as well as families affected by 9/11. The night included unique touches like cocktails with custom themed ice cubes, an Indigenous Australian didgeridoo performance, and words from Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister — but you don’t have to take our word for it! Margaux’s passion, creativity, and work ethic have made her a key part of Eventique’s team over the last year. She’s looking forward to producing more events that will let those traits shine! If you or someone you know has a project for Margaux and Cara to tackle, visit Eventique.com today to request a proposal. “We worked with a vendor we love for the fabrication work, and it was great to plan it with them and see our ideas from a piece of paper come to life,” she says. Margaux carries that creativity home with her after work. There, she transforms recipes into delicious dishes in her tiny New York City kitchen. She specializes in homemade pastas and other Italian entrees and reminisces fondly about a lobster ravioli she once assembled with light rose lobster sauce.

“Cara has the great ideas, and I help execute them!” Margaux says. “My experience here has really let me grow and helped me realize the possibilities in events that go beyond balloons.” One of her favorite projects so far was L’Occitane’s “Wonder Inside” pop-up at Lavan 541 last holiday season. The multilevel event showcased the brand’s signature holiday products — including its Beauty Advent Calendar and ornamental doll houses — with larger-than-life fabrications. Margaux fell in love with the event’s look and duality: Consumers filled the space in the morning to sample and purchase products, and influencers flooded through in the evening for an even more curated experience.

like confetti, getting creative with music and lighting, or adding a screen with supporting motion graphics behind the podium (a title card with the winner’s name and headshot is a great start). You can also capture the winner’s live reaction on camera and display it on screen for the room to see.

Next time you plan an awards ceremony for your staff, think about the standout moment from this year’s Oscars celebration. No, it wasn’t Lady Gaga’s last-minute performance or Rihanna’s black and silver maternity dress. It happened when “Everything Everywhere All at Once” actor Ke Huy Quan ran onto the stage and threw himself at Harrison Ford. Their ecstatic hug made headline news! And it only happened because a savvy event coordinator had the foresight to ask Ford — whose “Indiana Jones” films gave Quan his acting start in 1984 — to present the Oscar for Best Picture. When “Everything Everywhere All at Once” won, the audience was as excited about the reunion as the stars! According to Eventique founder and CEO Liron David, that type of purposeful planning and dual prioritizing is critical to executing a memorable awards ceremony. “People forget that giving out an award at a conference or event is not just about the award — it’s also about the audience watching! The moment has to be as entertaining for the audience as it is exciting for the person getting the award,” he says. When you plan an awards ceremony, keep the stage mesmerizing so the audience’s minds don’t wander. Try using special effects

Of course, don’t forget to make the ceremony

special for the winner, too! Be strategic about who presents their award. Then, give them their moment in the spotlight to make a speech and share their emotions — it’s the perfect way to honor them and tug at the audience’s heartstrings. These tips will help you level up any awards ceremony, whether you’re honoring one top employee or 350 high-performing team members. And if you’re struggling to achieve that Oscars magic, remember that you can always call in the experts at Eventique.
