A. “Mormonism does not tend to debase God to the level of man, but to exalt man to the •perfection of God.” Gospel Through the Ages, Hunter, page 107, quoting Chas. IV, Penrose, Millennial Star, Vol. 23, page 181. B. “ How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer . . . For thou hast said in thy heart: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like g the Most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” Book of Mormon, 2 N ephi, chap. 24, verses 12« 13, 14, 15 C o m m e n t : Lucifer, son of the morning, aspired in his heart to be like God, and because of this desire, he was brought down to hell. I sincerely believe that every person who has the aspiration to become a god, or the assumption that man can be exalted to the perfection of God, shall join Lucifer and be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit (as quoted from the Book of Mormon), unless he has a change of heart and turns to the only True and Living God. 8. A. “Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, saint and sinner. When our father Adam came into the Garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organ ize this world. He is Michael, the archangel, the Ancient of Days, about whom holy men have written and spoken. He is our Father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do.” B. “ Thus saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, the Great I am, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end ,— Listen to the voice of Jesus Christ, your Lord, your God and your Re deemer, whose word is quick and powerful.” Revelations to Joseph Smith« Doctrine and Covenants, Sec. 88, verse 1. Sec. 27,»verse 1. C o m m e n t : One trouble with believ ing in so many gods is to keep them in their proper places. It is clear from the above quotations that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young had this difficulty, for they did not agree on which god was the proper one with which to deal. 9. A. “And after Adam and Eve had par taken of the forbidden fruit they were driven out of the garden of Eden, to till the earth. And they have brought forth children; yea, even the family of all the earth. And now, behold, if Adam had not trans gressed he would not have fallen,. . . and they would have had no chil- President and Prophet Brigham Young, The Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, page 50
