AUDUBON ZOO WELCOMES NEW BUNDLES OF JOY: SCREAMING HAIRY ARMADILLO PUPS Audubon Zoo is celebrating the birth of a special set of armadillo twins. These screaming hairy armadillo pups entered the world in February and can be found in the Zoo’s Nocturnal House, along with both of their parents. Dillo, their mother, will be taking care of her babies until they are weaned and fully independent. Currently, the screaming hairy armadillo babies have a diet full of bugs, fruits, and vegetables. These armadillos are native to South America–Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay–and get their name because hair covers part of their bodies, and they scream when threatened. ■ audubonnatureinstitute.org/zoo
