Rainout Line ensures that critical information like weather cancellations is more consistent, accurate and as up-to-date as possible across all of our communications. GENERAL WEATHER-RELATED PROGRAM CANCELLATION PROCEDURES The Naperville Park District utilizes several guidelines to determine the cancellation or modification of activities due to weather. A list of the guidelines can be found at: napervilleparks. org/WeatherCancellationGuidelinesforActivities. Weather cancellations for activities are posted at: napervilleparks.org/ cancellations . In most instances, the Naperville Park District will not cancel activities based upon a weather forecast. Weather and facility conditions will be considered when determining the cancellation or modification of an activity. Activities may be cancelled at any time subject to the discretion of the Executive Director. At all times, participants and parents of participants have the ultimate responsibility to make decisions regarding participation in an activity based on weather conditions. LIGHTNING WARNING SYSTEM Naperville Park District uses a lightning warning system in many parks. The signal is activated by threatening weather. You will hear a repeating horn-siren-horn-siren audible warning and see a flashing light on top of the device. When the warning signal activates, all activities must be suspended and patrons must SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. Once the threat of lightning has passed, you will hear an intermittent horn with brief pauses between each signal. The flashing light on top of the device also will turn off. This indicates that activities can resume. This system is not fail-proof. Take shelter immediately when lightning threatens, even if a signal has not sounded.
