Adventure Camp is all about discovering new friendships, enjoying arts and crafts, playing lots of group games and participating in individual and team sports. On Thursdays, we’ll take weekly field trips by school bus to a fun destination! On field trip days, campers begin the day at 8:45 a.m. with pick up at 3:00 p.m. Campers need to bring a snack, drink and lunch each day. Fee includes Adventure Camp T-shirt to wear on field trip days. Arts and crafts, sports and group games are all part of the fun. Campers also experience once a week an entertainer performing on-site, a movie day on-site and a trip to Centennial Beach. Once per session, campers will also attend an off-site field. Those attending summer school at Ranch View and Mill Street go directly to camp from their summer school classroom with guidance from their school teacher. Lunch and snack are provided daily and early pick-up is available at 3:00 p.m. except beach and field trip days. When registering, please let us know if your child needs a vegetarian or gluten free lunch. Detailed information about camp will also be available at www.napervilleparks.org/camps in mid-April. Registration for the Summer School Camp will begin on March 6, 2023. This is an introduction for those with little to no sewing experience. Become familiar with using a sewing machine and develop confidence making different projects throughout the program. On first day of class, the instructor will review the required materials and pattern. Participants will need to purchase fabric for their garment of choice; students will be making one garment only. Pattern and other sewing notions are included. It’s a helpful skill to have. Participants will learn different stitches and techniques for sewing on a button then progressing to the more complex zipper. Different projects will be created by participants based on time available. All materials are included. Aside from having fun, students will use unexpected ideas and materials along with various concepts including line, form, color, shape to make art objects. We’ll also try out different hands-on techniques like drawing, painting, combining, constructing, gluing, hot gluing, cutting, sawing, sanding, drilling, tying, wiring, and thinking. Some of the topics we plan to cover are: aliens, flying saucers, airplanes, sail boats, birds, skulls, hearts, robots, super heroes, snakes, alligators, animals, people and wherever our imagination takes us. Parents, clear off your refrigerator and mantel, because your camper will be creating a lot of unique and fun art that you’ll want to display.
