CREATIVE ARTS

Our qualifications are awarded by the University of Arts London, a top two world ranking university for art and design.

END OF YEAR EXHIBITION Every year our Art, Digital and Media students create an amazing exhibition of their work. The exhibition is a collection of final project work and showcases the skills they’ve developed in a wide range of artistic and design processes. The exhibition is open to the public as well as friends and family members.

The Creative Arts sector in the UK contributes over £90 billion to the economy. It’s a diverse sector with lots of opportunities for those with creative flair. You can find opportunities in traditional art forms such as painting, illustration, graphic design and publishing, alongside the digital world such as games design and animation. All of our creative courses include 'live briefs' and projects to enable you to develop industry skills and build a professional portfolio to showcase your abilities to employers or universities. Your portfolio is particularly important if you wish to progress to university after achieving your Level 3 qualification, as it can be used to support your UCAS application.

“ Katie joined Preston College from Carr Hill High School with aspirations to work in theatre, TV and film production. She is now progressing to Edge Hill University to pursue that ambition. I have enjoyed my time at Preston College and can’t wait to pursue my creative career. My tutors have helped me improve my work by giving regular feedback and showing me new techniques. They are very knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER Graphic Designers use their creative flair and digital skills to create a range of designs for multiple platforms, including anything from books, posters and flyers to adverts and product packaging. Graphic Designers need to use their knowledge of printing processes and media platforms to respond to their client’s project briefs. To be successful in this industry you’ll need to keep up-to-date with the latest design trends, have excellent communication skills and be able to reflect on your work, taking direction and feedback from your clients and advising them on the best solutions. You’ll typically be qualified to degree level and you’ll need work experience before progressing into more senior roles.
