EVENTS MANAGER AND ORGANISER Events need careful management and planning to be a success. As an Events Manager and Organiser you’ll be expected to oversee all bookings, generate new business, and manage client expectations. Even with the best planning things can always change last minute, so you’ll need to be adaptable and think on your feet to ensure your customers are satisfied. Events Managers and Organisers are typically educated to degree level so you should consider further study after college. Your college course will prepare you for university and includes industry placements, helping you gain some invaluable experience in the workplace.

Events, hospitality, and tourism is an area with a lot of different job roles and opportunities. You can work anywhere in the world in a variety of settings including travel agencies, airports, hotels, holiday resorts and visitor attractions such as theme parks, zoos, and stately homes. In terms of events, you could be organising small scale fundraisers, parties in the park, festivals, or weddings. Both sectors are customer facing so you’ll need to be good with people and have great communication skills. At Preston College you will have opportunities to go on various trips and work experience placements. You will also hear from guest speakers working in the industry.
