FIRE SERVICE OFFICER Fire Service Officers attend and deal with a range of emergency situations including fires, road accidents, floods and rescues. To be successful in this industry you’ll need to be resilient, calm under pressure and have excellent communication skills to work as part of your team and help people through some traumatic experiences. You’ll typically be qualified to Level 3 before you start your employment, during which you can progress to higher roles with in-house training and development schemes.

“ Jessica joined Preston College from Corpus Christi Catholic High School. Jessican transferred from musical theatre to the public services course and recently won the College’s Invaluable Contributor Award at the annual Student Awards. I decided to change my career from working in performing arts to becoming a police officer. On the public services course my tutor supported, challenged, and directed me to the right path. She gave support whenever I needed it.
