HIGHER EDUCATION You may wish to progress to university to continue your studies, alternatively you could stay at Preston College to complete a higher level qualification, from Level 4 up to degree level. Preston College University Centre offers a range of Higher Education, Institute of Technology (IoT) technical courses, Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs), professional courses, and higher apprenticeships. It’s never too early to start thinking about where you’d like to go after you complete your College course. You may choose to progress to a higher level of study at Preston College, start an apprenticeship or start work full-time. CAREER GUIDANCE Preston College have a structured and targeted careers programme delivered through tutorials with regular input from external organisations including universities, apprenticeship providers and employers. The Careers & Progression Team is on hand to provide you with advice and guidance on your progression options and can provide support with:
Our programme of workshops and tutorials seek to focus on specific items to support students in being successful at College and beyond. There are four key elements to the programme:
PASTORAL SUPPORT Help with queries, problems, and referrals. Your Student Manager will liaise with support staff including Counsellors, Careers Advisors and Welfare staff on your behalf. CURRICULUM SUPPORT Monitor your progress, set targets, arrange support, co-ordinate initial assessment and get help with your portfolio or file management. Your Student Manager will liaise with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disability Support Team) in order to ensure you succeed.

HEALTH & WELLBEING WEEK Health and Wellbeing Week at Preston College always ensures there’s something for everyone, activities include a petting zoo, forest school, glow in the dark sports, board games, and many more. Students thoroughly enjoyed this day and made sure to get involved with a range of different activities allowing them to unwind and take a break for their wellbeing.
Your Student Manager is there to support you throughout your time at Preston College
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT Work with your Student Manager to improve your self-esteem, build friendships, practise and develop communication and teamwork
skills, understand values including individual liberty, democracy, rule of law, mutual respect and respect of faith as well as Prevent and safeguarding. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Student Managers will support you to develop your career planning skills and study techniques (including research skills) alongside work experience and preparing you for progression.
DAY OF CULTURE Usually held in May, our Annual Day of Culture is an opportunity for you to take part in a range of cultural activities including games and crafts alongside experiencing music and food from around the world.
