interacting with people,” she says. “I build a lot of my business using social media, and I love doing content creation. I’ve always been on the artistic side, and I view it as a form of artwork. I study a lot of other people’s social media and think about things like, ‘What makes me click and what makes me swipe off someone else’s story?’ I find that really fun.” Building a business with a focus on the process, not the outcome, takes the pressure off. “If I hit a big advancement, that’s great, but if I don’t, that’s fine too,” she says. “I don’t feel unnecessary pressure, and building a business this way doesn’t create anxiety. I do the work, and if something’s not working, I try something else—I keep pivoting. But I keep doing the work, and I allow whatever’s meant to happen to just come. If I felt pressure about it, that would come across to my customers and business partners.” Meghan’s more relaxed approach seems to be working for her. So far this year, she’s already advanced three times with no sign of slowing down. “As I’ve built my business these last four years, my confidence has increased,” she says. “The more I find that people gravitate toward me for being my authentic self, the less I care about people who don’t gravitate toward that. And now that I’ve broken free from that, I just feel happier.”

When Meghan Dirk enrolled with Melaleuca, she intended to simply use EcoSense ® cleaning products. But within days, the global COVID-19 pandemic began, and Meghan was suddenly uncertain whether she might lose her main source of income— her personal beauty business doing hair and nails in person. “So I filled out my Marketing Executive Agreement, and I decided I’d try to make back the money I’d just spent on my product order,” she says. “It snowballed from there, and I never looked back.” Now Meghan is an Executive Director 5, and her business is growing rapidly. But that original goal—covering the cost of her order—is the only official goal Meghan has ever set within her Melaleuca business. Goal setting, as surprising as it might sound, isn’t really her thing. “I’ve found that if I set a goal and I don’t hit it, I get really discouraged,” she explains. “So instead, I focus on the actions that make me happy and build my business. I put my head down and do the work simply because I enjoy it.” Meghan concedes that what she does is still work; it isn’t all play. But the work she does building her Melaleuca business is the sorts of thing that she enjoys doing. “I really like meeting and
