COMPANY HISTORY
Our founder, John King, started his Resort Operations career with Thousand Trails in 1977, which is now one of the largest membership camping companies in the US and Canada. During his time with Thousand Trails, John opened their first park outside of Washington in the state of Oregon and this is when he realized he loved the industry so much and decided to strike out on his own. Throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, John and his late wife, Jan, become pioneers in the industry by purchasing, opening, and operating many membership camping resorts in Wyoming, Southern California, and Arizona. In the late ‘80s, John and Jan headed East, and purchased Resorts in New York. By the time he retired, their children were involved in the business who further expanded the Resort Operations enterprise by acquiring multiple Resorts in Michigan and Ohio. Today, John is back home in Palm Springs, CA enjoying retirement.

BENJAMIN’S BEAVER CREEK RESORT open year round Once one of Gaylord’s original alpine ski resorts called Snow Valley, Benjamin’s Beaver Creek Resort is now void of the rope tows and ski lifts of its previous identity. In its place, a family resort has been erected for all season entertainment, from snowmobiling to golf and everything in between. The resort is located just five miles southwest of downtown Gaylord, nestled between Otsego Lake and thousands of acres of state forest. Because of the Resort’s central location, you are just a short scenic drive from Northern Michigan’s many varied treasures such as Mackinaw City, Traverse City, Harbor Springs and the tunnel of trees - a breathtaking ride along Lake Michigan and through the northern forest. Less than an hour’s drive will take you to casinos, several canoe liveries and some of the best downhill skiing in Michigan.
