KAPPA ARCHIVE RECOVERY INITIATIVE

KAPPA NEWS

Grand Historian Establishes Program to Collect Historical Material From Fraternity Members

It is paramount that we all actively contribute to the preservation of the Fraternity’s history, in order to ensure that we retain our history for future generations of Brothers to enjoy. The Kappa Archive Recovery form is available on Grand Chapter’s website. Brothers are asked to complete it, send one copy to the Grand Historian, print and retain a copy for themselves so their family is aware of their wishes. Donors may decide to contribute items in part or in whole at the time of completing the form. Undergraduate Brothers may assist our Senior Brothers by helping them with this process; Undergraduate brothers may also iden- tify friends of the family or other family members who are Fraternity members that may have Kappa artifacts. In addition to donating their own items, senior brothers may identify Kappa widows to ask about Kappa artifacts of our departed Brothers. Brothers will be provided with an official gift letter when their items are re- ceived. There is an ultimate plan to display these items at a renovated Kappa museum at International Headquarters, with a plac- ard which will acknowledge the giver. Please reach the Grand Historian, Kev- in Scott at: GrandHistorian1911@gmail. com for any questions on this subject. tions and clothing paraphernalia, and other Kappa related items.

T he fraternity’s Grand Historian, Kevin Scott, is embarking on a new initiative designed to increase the archives and make more information from the fraternity’s history available to members of the fraternity. After recently performing an inventory of the archives at International Headquar- ters, Brother Scott has discovered that there are many vital pieces of our fraterni- ty’s history that are missing or incomplete. Additionally, as each month passes, several of our brothers transition to the Chapter Invisible and our history is lost with them. In addition, items can be dis- carded or sold as part of an estate or online auctions. As a result of these events, there is an immediate need to recover items that have been lost and to preserve objects that come into our possession in the future. It is paramount that we all actively contribute to the preservation of the Fraternity’s history, in order to ensure that we retain our history for future generations of Brothers to enjoy. In order to combat this critical problem head-on, the Grand Historian has created the “Kappa Archive Recovery Initiative.” This monumental task will only be able to be completed with your valued assistance. The Grand Historian requests that each brother participates in this recovery initiative by taking the following four actions:
