God also presented him with another life-changing blessing, his greatest asset and best friend, Gretta Renee McClain. They were united in holy matrimony on April 21, 2012 by Pastor Steve Hall. Although, they did not have any off- spring’s, they were the proud and loving parents of two fur children, Midnight and Brunswick. On Monday, January 2, 2017 at 8:05 am, Charles accepted God’s heavenly calling and began his celebration in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Charles Gibbs Sr., his beloved sister, Mia Lynn Gibbs, and his maternal Grandmother, Lucille Thompson. Left in God’s care to cherish his lov- ing memory is his devoted wife, Gretta, his sister, Cynthia Hall, his uncle and aunt, Samueland Golden Faye Gibbs, his nephew Rev. Marlon Hall (Regina); nieces, Tiffini Hall, and Chelsey Hall, his Father-in-Law, Lance McClain, his special and long-time friend, Jozetta Taylor-Walker, one great-nephew, four great-nieces, a host of cousins, the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and countless friends.

God blessed Charles Gibbs, Sr., and his wife Lucille with a lovely baby boy. Born in Hous- ton, Texas, Charles, Jr. was doted upon by his family and

Ethel V. Fauntroy.  He graduated Francis Grimke Elemen- tary School, Garnet-Patterson Junior High School and Cardozo Senior High School, where he excelled as a member of the football and swim teams. He then entered his beloved Central State Col- lege in Wilberforce, Ohio and earned a B.S. degree in Business in 1957. He was initiated into the Delta Zeta of Kappa Alpha Psi ® at Central State College in 1955. He served the fraternity as Delta Zeta’s Polemarch. After being Honor- ably Discharged from the United States Army, he began his professional career in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1992 after nearly three decades of service as a management analyst at the Department of Justice. Brother Fauntroy was deeply de- voted to his family, friends and neighbor- hood. Family members, particularly his nieces and nephews, often relied upon him for counsel. He served as a mentor to many young men in his neighborhood and during his government service. Fauntroy, and two sons, Michael Fauntroy, Washington (DC) Alumni ‘06, (Lisa) and Kevin Fauntroy (Dionne). He leaves behind five brothers and sisters: William T. Fauntroy Jr. (Camilla), Doris Ann Ball (Johnny), Rev. Walter Faun- troy (Alpha Gamma 1952) (Dorothy), Raymond Fauntroy (Arlene) and Gerald Fauntroy (Renee). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Lauryn, Mia, Danielle, Logan and Brett Faun- troy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sarah

friends throughout his entire life.

He was educated in the Houston Independent School District and gradu- ated in May of 1985 from Booker T. Washington High School. Upon graduation Charles attended Texas A&M University. Brother Gibbs was initiated into the Beta Upsilon of Kappa Alpha Psi ® at Texas A&M University on December 5, 1986 on the line named Kappa Ship Nucleus. He was a charter member of the Nu Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® at Texas A&M University. Brother Gibbs was baptized at an early age at University Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) by Rev. Charles Faulkner and maintained his member- ship there for many years. He later joined Bethany Baptist Church SBC, where he accepted the call to ministry under the leadership of Pastor Steve Hall. While at Bethany, Brother Gibbs served in numerous ministries including Evangelism, New Members, and Church on Wheels. Charles later united with Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Davis where he served as the Youth Minister. He excelled at his career as a car salesman, and eventually became Finance Director with DN Motors. Nevertheless, his greatest accomplish- ment was achieved when he accepted the call to ministry. This acceptance changed his life forever. His sermons were intertwined with that special touch of “Charles Gibbs” humor, relevance and the Word of God.
