story of a wicked woman, the mother of a wicked king over -God’s people. This woman’s son, who was king, was very wicked, and caused God’s people to worship idols. One day in battle the king was killed. Now, when his mother heard of his death, she began to plan how she might rule over the people and carry out her many wicked thoughts. She was like King Herod, she for got that God could look right into her heart and mind and knew all that she was planning to do. She had all the sons of the king killed so there would be no one to be king, so she could rule as queen. But listen to what happened. In the king’s palace, where the other children of the king lived, was a little son just about a year old, and his aunt, when she heard about the awful thing that was about to be done, quietly slipped into the palace and took this ~baby boy and his nurse, and hid them away in a room in the palace where the bedding was kept. This little baby’s name was joash, and when the ones whom the wicked woman had ordered to kill thé other children had. gone through the palace, little Joash was safe where 'his aunt had hidden him away. So we see, just as with the baby Jesus, God saved him, for He had a great work for him to do later on. Little Joash’s aunt was the wife of the high priest of the temple, so after a while she took the baby and his nurse over to the temple to live. This makes us think of another little boy who grew up in the temple, whose name was Samuel. He was kept there for six

years, and of course little Joash would be very happy with his nurse, and we know the aunt woiild often come over to see him. It was a better school for him than if he had been in the palace close by, for the first impressions of little Joash were of God and His service. Now we have gotten along in our story to the time when Joash is seven years old. (Tell the fascinating story of the crowning of Joash as king, the surprise and joy of many to know there was one to become king, and put an end to the wicked queen; the joy of the women who had watched over him so faithfully through the years at the temple. Men tion the queen’s appearance, and how she was killed. Emphasize God’s watch and care, and teach memory verse.) The wicked queen thought she was very sharp, and was going to have every thing her own way, but she found out God was ruling, and Joash was saved from her cruel hinds, that he might become king.
