God calls that kind of people peace makers. Prayer. Lesson Story.— Let me see who is ready to tell us about some one whom God called to help Him. Edwin, you tell us. How many of us have been trying to obey promptly this week, that is, doing as we are asked right away? And of course if we obey quickly it will be easier to do, and we will not have any time to sulk or pout. Some of us have heard of Abraham before, and we are always glad to hear about people we like, so today our story is about Abraham and his nephew Lot. Now, Abraham was very rich: he had much silver and gold and a great many cattle. Lot had cattle, too— herds of cattle— and tents, for he and. his Uncle Abraham did not live in houses, but in tents, be cause they moved so much oftener than we do. Abraham and Lot each had men who took care of their cattle. One day these men quarreled among themselves. When Abraham heard of their quarrel ing, he spoke to Lot about it. Now, Abraham spoke very kindly to Lot and said, “ Let there be no strife or quarrel between me and thee, and between my men who take eare of my cattle and your men.” Now, we can see what a grand man Lot’s Uncle Abraham was, in the way he stopped the quarreling among the men who oared for the.cat tle. Abraham loved and served God, and that is why he was such a wonder ful peacemaker. Now listen, and hear what he says to Lot. He told Lot that he might go to any part of the land he chose to live in, and Abraham said he would go to another part. Now, Abra ham was the older and had a right to choose first, before Lot, but he gave Lot first choice. Lot showed a selfish spirit and chose the best land, nice and level and well watered by the river Jordan, which flowed through it. Even though Lot took the best land, Abraham did not complain, but took another part of land, so now there was plenty of room

for the cattle of Abraham and Lot to feed on, so the men who took care of them could not quarrel any more. - My, how much better it is to be a peace maker than to be one who is always quarreling, or wanting to quarrel! Boys and girls, do you think people are happy when they quarrel? No, indeed, they are not. But listen, and hear what Jesus says about peacemakers. It is our memory verse. “ Blessed are the peacemakers.” Blessed means happy, so Jesus says if we are peacemakers we will be happy.
