Tipping New legislation, to be introduced at the earliest opportunity, will set out that tips must go to the workers providing the service. Prompt payment A call for evidence will be published later this week which will consider the best way to ensure company boards put in place responsible payment practices throughout their supply chain, including whether all company boards should give one of their non-executive directors specific responsibilities for the company’s prompt payment performance.

What do you think will be announced in the Budget?
8 October 2018
The Chancellor announced last week the Budget will take place on Monday 29 October, earlier than anticipated and since then Budget predictions have been aplenty.
Usually the Budget takes place on a Wednesday but some commentators have pointed out that as Halloween falls on the last Wednesday of October it would be pertinent to avoid headlines such as ‘Hammond’s House of Horror’s’.
Commentators are not expecting anything radical to be announced, with Brexit talks ongoing and political parties in ‘debate’ over their place in the exit arena.
It goes without saying that the Budget is about helping the economy and businesses to prosper but reducing the national deficit is always factored in. Will there be any surprises pulled out of the red briefcase?
There is plenty of speculation about the possibility of:
• A reduction in the pensions annual allowance • A reform of pensions tax relief • IR35 reforms being rolled out to the private sector. What are your thoughts? What do you think the Chancellor will announce that will raise money for the Exchequer but not rock the Brexit boat?
