Police seek tree thieves The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police detachment is trying to find the people who stole about 150 Christmas trees from “Pépinière Ridge Road” near Fournier on the weekend. The Grinches pulled off the crime on the night of November 30-December 1. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Hawkesbury OPP at 613-632-2729 or 1-888-310-1122. Safe cracked at Champlain Motel November 28, shortly before 2 a.m., officers were sent to the Champlain Motel on Old Highway 17, in Plantagenet, to investigate a break-in. Sometime between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., someone broke into the basement of the business and stole the contents of a safe. Traffic stop leads to weapons charges A L’Orignal man faces a weapon possession charge following a traffic stop in Hawkes- bury. November 28, Constable Eddy Saardi was patrolling Main Street East when he noticed a red Ford Explorer driving through a red light at John and Main Streets. The vehicle was immediately intercepted. The officer discovered a switchblade knife hidden in a lighter, police say. Further investigation also revealed that the driver was suspended from driving and from possessing any weapon. Benoit Godin, 37, was charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, disobeying a sign and driving while under suspension. Smell sparks pot charge November 29, Constable Jonathan Bouchard was dispatched to a Portelance Street, Hawkesbury residence after police received a complaint that someone was smoking marijuana and that the smell was unbearable for nearby residents. Pamela Breault, 30, of Portelance Street was charged with possession of marijuana. Two charged in domestic disputes A man and a woman have been charged following two separate domestic disputes in North Glengarry. On November 28, Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers re- sponded to a report of an altercation on Main Street, Alexandria. The investigation re- vealed that, during an argument, a 49-year-old man threatened his wife. He was charged with uttering threats. The next morning, at about 2 a.m., officers responded to a report of a domestic inci- dent on County Road 10. The investigation revealed that during the dispute, a 23-year- old woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend. She was charged with assault.
