TEACHING, TRAINING & ASSESSING

ANGE SUPPORTING TEACHING & LEARNING IN SCHOOLS LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE After leaving high school in 1997, Ange spent seven rewarding years working in a nursery before making a bold career change to become a Police Officer. During her nearly decade-long service, she worked with a specialist team tackling Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and also took on a team leader role with the LFRS Prince’s Trust (now King’s Trust) programme. Following a career break that included working in orphanages and schools in Morocco, Ange became a proud mum and made the difficult decision to leave the police to focus on raising her son as a single parent. Driven by a passion for helping others - especially children - Ange began working as an unqualified Teaching Assistant at a primary School, where she’s been for the past 18 months. Wanting to formalise her experience and build her confidence, she enrolled on a course at Preston College. “The course has been so insightful,” she says. “I’ve learned the importance of policies and procedures in education, and how government and law shape our work.” Ange particularly values the open class discussions, where peers share experiences that bring topics to life. Although, initially nervous about returning to education as a mature student, Ange has found Preston College to be inclusive, welcoming, and supportive. Now well into her course, she’s excited about the future and the opportunities her qualification will open up within the education sector.
