Larson XL Sim Angus - 47th Annual Simmental Bull & Female Sale [2/25/26]

Welcome friends and fellow ranchers,

Welcome to our 48th annual sale. Every year has a different story to tell. Cattle prices are at all time highs and that is great news. Ranchers have never been rewarded like we have been the last couple of years and I thank God for it. What a great time to own cattle. Part of our story of 2025 includes a large prairie fire that burned almost 700 acres of our pastureland last March. We had four miles of fence that was burned and had to be re- placed. It was in pastures that included three large buttes and so we hired a fencing crew to replace the old fence. We weren’t able to use the burned acres until the end of July when the new fence was ready. This meant running pairs in other pastures longer than we should. The burnt acres were all native grass and although it greened up nicely there was far less native grass available for the cows to graze. To make a long story short, our weaning weights were almost 50 lbs. lighter than 2024 and I believe this was due to the fire. The genetics are still in these bulls to provide quality calves to our customers. We use about 200 straws of bull stud semen every year and focus on a type of calf that is well muscled with good rib and standing on good feet and legs. Their health has been excel- lent. They’ve been vaccinated with Vista once SQ , Vision 7 Somnus preweaning, Bovi Shield Gold one shot and Mycoplasma at weaning. They were poured with Ivermectin at weaning and Brute for lice two times. We are once again selling all of my AI sired open heifers. There are 29 of these beautiful heifers and we’ll sell them in sire lots. These are top quality SimAngus heifers that have multiple generations of AI genetics in their pedigree. Ben and Holly Hetzel are selling 15 bulls this year. Seven of these are purebred Angus. These are top quality bulls and sell under the same terms and conditions as the XL bulls. Thank-you to all our customers. We are grateful for all of you. Please join us on Febru- ary 25 for a free noon lunch and then our 48th annual sale at 1:00 pm MST at Lemmon Livestock.

God bless you all,
