A s the hot summer days start to fade and the crisp air and warm colors of Fall come to life, our flower containers and summer décor often start to lose their luster and need spruced up. Our home should be a place that invites our friends and families to relax and savor the magic of the seasons. Whether that means being greeted by a beautiful fall container or an autumn centerpiece to gather around to share a cup of cider perhaps, find a way to soak in the superlative weather, endless festivals, and overall beauty of fall. When it comes to decorating your home for the fall it can be overwhelming to pick where to start. Here are some can’t-live-without fall decorating ideas. Is your front porch ready? Take the time and put some color into your landscape and front porch. While mums may seem cliché for fall, the amount of color one plant can offer is worth every penny. They look great planted in beds and can make a huge impact planted in masses. Consider popping one into a container with a fountain grass, ornamental cabbage/kale, and pansies. The kale/cabbage can offer a contrasting texture and bring in some cool colors to complement the warm colors of mums. Get creative with your fall containers and don’t be afraid to add other organic elements like a miniature pumpkin or gourd, bittersweet, or some orange or yellow twigs. Surrounding your containers with all things fall! Throw in multiple sizes of pumpkins and gourds as well as varying sizes of straw bales to add height. If you have steps on your porch, cluster these items to greet your guests all the way to the door. When it comes to fall - more is always better! Decorating your front door! Don’t forget front door embellishments! Incorporate living things into a wreath or door hanger to avoid overuse of tired and faded faux decorations. Utilize chicken wire to gather up a bundle of miniature gourds and pumpkins. Hide some of the chicken wire with grapevine or heavy, natural- looking twine. Here would be a great place to incorporate high-quality, colorful silks such as maple leaves. When mixed in amongst living things, their aesthetics will be elevated.
An eye-catching centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table! Fall is the time of year where we tend to gather around the table more than any other time of year. Table décor often invokes interest and invites you and your guests into richer conversation as they feel at home. Pumpkins can be the perfect canvas on which to build a centerpiece. Glue down sphagnum moss and piece in low-maintenance succulents for a trendy talking point. You can also put together an indoor fall container suited for a table with miniature pumpkins and gourds, ornamental cabbage/kale, colorful houseplants such as croton, and fresh evergreen cuttings. Collect other natural items such as pine cones or magnolia leaves. Keep arrangements low to keep the conversation flowing across the table. Just because summer is ending, don’t wait until next spring to spruce up your living and plant décor. Utilize what each season gives and make your home a destination for your family and friends.
