THE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S

Does God H imself tak e a hand in the experimental sanctification of His child? (1 Thess. 5 :23 ; 4 :3 ): “T h e v e r y G o d o f p e a c e s a n c t if y y o n w h o lly .” “T h is is th e w ill o f G od, e v e n y o u r s a n c tif ic a tio n .” To use o ther words, w hat does it mean th a t “ sain ts” are being sancti fied? (2 Cor. 3 :1 8 ): “W e a r e c h a n g e d in t o th e s a m e im a g e f r o m g lo r y t o g lo r y , a s b y th e S p ir it.” 3. There is a completed sanctifica tion—an en tire setting ap a rt a t the glorious appearing of Christ when th e saint is finally perfected in the like ness of Christ. When will th is entire sanctification ta k e place? (1 Jn . 3 :2 ): “B e lo v e d , n o w a r e w e th e s o n s o f G o d , a n d i t d o th n o t y e t a p p e a r w h a t w e s h a ll b e t b u t w e k n o w t h a t , w h e n h e s h a ll a p p e a r , w e s h a ll b e lik e h im ; f o r w e s h a ll s e e h im a s h e is .” It is then th a t the prayer, “sanctify you wholly,’’ (1 Thess. 5:23 ) is fully answered. T h at which God has separated unto H imself must be holy. He requires holiness on the ground th a t He owns us. Therefore we are not only set ap art once for all in Christ, b u t God says to us (1 Pet. 1:15, 16; Heb. 12: 14 ): “A s h e w h ic h h a t h c a lle d y o u is h o ly , s o b e y e h o ly in a l i m a n n e r o f c o n v e r s a tio n ; B e c a u s e i t is w r i t t e n . B e y e h o ly ; f o r I a m h o ly .” “ F o llo w h o lin e s s , w i th o u t w h ic h n o m a n s h a l l s e e th e L o rd .” W hat God has begun He will finish and th a t perfectly. So of w hat may a tru e child of God be confident? (Phil. 1 : 6 ) : “ B e in g c o n fid e n t o f th i s v e r y th i n g , t h a t h e w h ic h h a t h b e g u n a g o o d w o r k in y o n w ill p e r f o r m [ li t. fin is h ] i t u n t i l th e d a y o f J e s u s C h r is t.”

Heedless of the ty ran t stern, Heedless of his th re a t to burn, ~ They could die— they could not turn,-— F a ith was bold. God for t h e m deliverance w rought, They to God much glory brought, ’Twas H is praise alone they sought— Man is vain. Such the men God w ants today, MEN who fear not what men say, MEN who tru st in God alway— In THEIR God! This H is message still to you: B rother, to your Lord be true. Dare to be of Daniel’s few— Why draw back? . True to Christ, your glorious Lord, Soon He cometh, heed His Word; Live as one His voice has heard, By His grace. (Selected.) H n THE HELPLESS HEATHEN Sir W illiam Jones has tran slated a Hindoo work on Morals which exhibits many of the religious opinions of th a t rem arkable people. From many strik ing passages we select th e following: “A ship is used in passing a dan gerous ocean; a lamp is used in dark ness; and a hook in humbling the pride of an elephant. Thus in th is world nothing exists for which a remedy has not been formed by th e C reator; but in my opinion, th e C reator H im self would fail in H is efforts to co rrect th e bad though ts of th e wicked.” < Such is th e helpless condition of the heathen. They are bad, and they do not see how God Himself can make them better. They have never heard of God’s g reat salvation— God’s remedy for sin. “The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin.” Let one of our Bible Correspon dence Courses open up the Scriptures to you.
