it will die, then it is no good except to be burned. If you don’t stay close to Me, nothing you do will be good and you can not please God; He will call all you do bad, and throw it away like we do th e dead branches. Memory Verse: Abide in Me- and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fru it of itself, except it abide in th e vine; no more can .ye, except ye abide in Me. (Close, by speaking of the things th a t we feel sure th a t Jesus w ants us to do, laying stress upon the practical things of every day life, such as being loving, kind, gentle to all, and espe­ cially to those who are poor and needy, seeking to bring them the love of Jesus. helping you to bear fru it, ju st as the vine helps th e branches to bear those beautiful grapes. The fru it you bear for Me, will be good thoughts, kind words, and loving deeds. You will n be able to do any of these things, un­ less you have My help. You must listen very closely to what th e Holy Spirit tells you fo r Me, and let Me give you th e streng th to do these good things. If any branch is cut from th e vine it wilh die and no grapes will ever grow upon it. So if you go away from Me you will not be able to do good any more th a n th e branch can have grapes if it is cut off the vine. Satan will watch h ard to get you away from Me, so you cannot be good; bu t if you love Me you will watch and pray every day to keep close to Me, so th a t Satan will have no chance a t you. The world persecutes believers because it knows nothing of th e F ath e r or of th e Son; because the “ carnal m ind is enm ity against God” (Rom. 8 :7 ). , “Forewarned is forearm ed.” Jesus warns His disciples of th e coming per­ secution which will be theirs, and which will be a testimony to th e tru th of His words. So He showed Paul how much he must suffer for His sake (Acts 9 :1 6 ). He warned them th a t they m ight be prepared and th a t they m ight not be ensnared. They were to remember
