Figure 34 and Table 12 highlight the stagnant export volume, but there is an upward trend in overall sales value of cobalt in WA, particularly towards the end of FY2016-17. This is a reflection of the rapid increase in price per tonne towards the end of FY2016-17. In the financial year 2016- 17, some 4.3kt were exports at a value of A$237.5m. Figure 35 illustrates the cobalt price movement ($A per tonne), between July 2012 and June 2017:
