Scranton, PA — Hiner- feldCommercial Real Estate brokered the sale of the former Oppenheim Building located at Lackawanna and Wyoming Av- enues in downtown Scranton. The five story and eight story buildings were renovated in the late 1990s into premium class A office space. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the Downtown Scranton Historic District. The 183,000 s/f Oppenheim building is one of two historic properties in Downtown Scran- ton recently sold. The 43,000 s/f Samter Building was sold by Hinerfeld Commercial Real Estate in December of 2016. Scranton caught the eye of the buyer/investors because of the beauty of Downtown Scranton’s historic architec- ture. The adaptive reuse of these buildings is part with the revitalization and urbanization movement fueled by millennial- movement. “Millennials want to live, work, and play in convenient and exciting environments within close proximity to one another”, said Elijah Miller , the Hinerfeld Commercial Real Estate associate who brokered the sale. “These are exciting times for the downtown area.
