BICSI Brief Volume 2, Issue 2

How did you get started in the ICT industry?

I started in 1997 and I had my CAD degree, and found out that there was a discipline called telecommunications. So, I ended up starting at an engineering firm doing technology design, that’s how I jumped into ICT.

What value has BICSI brought to your career?

Indescribable, because I wanted to become a PE, professional engineer, and that wasn’t in my path, so when I got into the technology industry, I started to learn that there are certifications in the industry. When I learned about the RCDD, it was definitely something that was part of my path, and I still after over 20 years (I received it in 2002), still remember that feeling when I received it.

What advice would you give to someone starting in the ICT industry?

There’s no limit. Get in, get involved, and as you grow in the industry, get [to] volunteering, because it’s a great way to meet other people that are doing the same thing as you and you can learn.
