Our goal is to continually advance our collective understanding of FMD and improve strategies to combat this dreadful disease. I personally manage the relationship with international organisations like the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), who play a central role in the regulated diseases we deal with in VPH. Working closely with the other departments of Boehringer Ingelheim, we ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards. This collaborative approach allows us to deliver effective solutions to our users and make a meaningful contribution to managing and controlling FMD. What do you do on a daily basis? My daily routine is very dynamic… but in truth there is no “routine” at all, since all I seem to do is address unexpected events. You never know when and where transboundary diseases will hit, so it’s all about being prepared and agile. Most of my time is actually spent answering

Who are you and what’s role within Veterinary Public Health within Boehringer Ingelheim? I am the Head of Global Technical Services in the Veterinary Public Health department of Boehringer Ingelheim. I lead a team of experts in transboundary, regulated diseases. Our role is to provides scientific support, expertise and service to our customers around the world. My team and I play a crucial role in ensuring our vaccine users are well-informed and prepared. We train and educate our vaccine users on transboundary disease control and especially on good vaccination practices. We regularly monitor and analyze epidemiological trends related to Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and communicate these findings to our customers. This helps them stay updated and make informed decisions about vaccination strategies. Our vaccine matching and post-vaccination monitoring (PVM) services are another key aspect of our work. Thanks to our expertise in clinical trial design and our dedicated laboratories in Pirbright and Lelystad, we provide ongoing support and data to our users, addressing any concerns or queries they might have before or after vaccination. This ensures they have the necessary resources and knowledge to deal with FMD control effectively. In the wider FMD community, we strive to be
