Mehiel said that they have had situations when their boxes were too strong for their customers’ applications as well, prompting DCP to remove some of the fiber from the cartons. “It’s a very good problem to have,” Simmons said. “I’ve been doing this for almost 33 years now and I’ve never had a plant where the board is too strong, where the cus- tomers say, ‘Your board is too strong.’ If anything, they would say it’s too weak.” Among many other quality checks, DCP performs Edge Crush Testing (ECT) which allows them to find the optimal paper combination for every customer application. “I can sell a finished box at the same price or maybe even a little bit lower that will perform in virtually any environment us- ing less fiber than my competitors typically need to use,” Mehiel said. The converting machine lineup includes two Bobst flexo folder gluers with inline diecutting capability, two Haire Apstar rotary die cutters, one of which offers inside and outside printing with an in-line pizza box shrink bun- dling system, Alliance bundle breakers and robotic pre- feeders, and a four color Macarbox flexo folder gluer with inline diecutting and shrink bundling capability for retail
