On the subject of goals, Pablo Picasso once said, “Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” At 37th Parallel, we achieve our goals using the structure and support of a business plan. Every year, we sit down and refine our plan, not only for the next year but for several years beyond that. While we already know our long-term goal for the business ($500 million of assets under management), this planning exercise helps us determine the question of how and when we get there. Dan and I make a great team. We both have ambitious plans, but the realist in Dan keeps us grounded. Together, we craft goals that, with hard work, are just within our reach. And, by design, we have built a team of talented people who vigorously act on executing that plan every

day. I think you can say that the secret to our success is that there is no secret. It all comes down to good planning, specialized knowledge, and hard work. When we sat down at the end of last year and discussed what we thought 2017 should look like, we knew that we had to move to a larger office space. While our previous space had served us well, we had outgrown it. The more we talked about it, the more we realized that the same could be said for our website. So, we made it a priority to do a major website overhaul. We wanted it to have a new look and a fresh feel, one that was easy to navigate and that highlighted our portfolio and our team. However, what was most important to us was that we maintained and expanded upon what we’ve become known for: our robust focus on education.

Education is a core competency for this company; in fact, it is one of our passions. We enjoy educating and inviting like-minded people to invest with us. The fundamentals are just so strong in this asset class, and the demographic wave of demand fueling apartments is undeniable. I often joke that if people knew what I know about this asset class, they’d crawl over broken glass to gain access to it. In a world dominated by stock market incentivized financial advisors, far too few people ever hear about this asset class. They are missing an incredible investment opportunity, and our goal is to change that. So, just like with our last website, you will notice a very prominent learning center on our new site.
