HAT ZONE HARD Construction to match our quality and growth, all across the Thumb.
For nearly every year of Scheurer Health’s history, there has been an ever constant mindset of growth...and much like the state of Michigan’s roadways...construction. After expanding laterally for the last 50 years since the “new” Scheurer Hospital was built in 1972, now we are moving “up.” A major expansion is currently in the works in both Pigeon and Sebewaing with nearly 100,000 square feet of space being added to our organization. The expansion in Pigeon is being titled the “Medical Hub,” a project dedicated to providing the space needed for our clinics as they continue to expand in services and attract more and more patients. This two- story addition will be 60,000 square feet and located at the very north end of the main campus in Pigeon. In Sebewaing, a new building will be constructed, just shy of 40,000 square feet and will bring all of our services in Sebewaing under one roof, while adding more services to the shores of Saginaw Bay. The Sebewaing project
will be built in the space and area that was historically our Health Center, where our Laboratory and Physical Therapy departments were previously located. Those services have been relocated nearby in the meantime; the Lab is temporarily next door to Subway and Physical Therapy is across the street next to Abadata until the new building is completed. Our Primary Care clinic will not move until the new construction is finished and will operate as normal. Both of these major construction projects have been going through the steps of being approved for USDA financing, a process that has well-exceeded a year and spanned a few government shutdowns. So if it feels like we have been talking about this for a while with no construction dust to show for it, you would be correct. Our team has been working on this for more than three years now. When finished, it will allow us to provide the best possible care in facilities that match our quality.
