Dear Willowbrook Residents - The Village of Willowbrook is excited to expand the recreational programs and events we offer to residents! In this program guide, you’ll find many new activities led by local and resident instructors, giving our community even more opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun together. For example, Studio B Art will be offering four unique art classes this summer, and our new Cooking Up Some Fun classes will give kids a chance to discover the joys of cooking while having a blast. We’re also bringing back many of our popular events, such as You Got Egg’d, the Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, the Easter Egg Hunt, Neighborhood Nights, Outdoor Movie Night, Watermelons on Water, and more. These events are a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather, meet your neighbors, and make lasting memories. Our goal is to keep adding to and improving what we offer so that everyone in the Village can find something they enjoy. This summer, we’re also kicking off the final phase (Phase III) of the Borse Memorial Community Park Redevelopment project. The Village received a $600,000 OSLAD grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help with this work, which is scheduled for completion in 2025. With this new grant, the total amount awarded for Borse Park improvements is nearly $2 million. These funds have been instrumental in transforming the park and ensuring it meets the needs of our community. Kids will love the new playground and splash pad, and there will be plenty for everyone to enjoy, whether it’s pickleball, fishing in the new pond, reading in a pavilion, enjoying and appreciating the Veterans’ Memorial, or simply taking a stroll to admire the beautiful trees and flowers. Spending time outdoors in parks is so important for our health and happiness, and we’re thrilled to be making these improvements for our residents. Our Active Adult program continues to be one of the best in DuPage County. If you haven’t already, take a look at The Scoop for seasonal programming and trips offered year-round in the Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring editions. Staying active, trying new things, and meeting new people bring so much joy and meaning to life. Having visited a few of these programs myself, it’s wonderful to see the smiles, laughter, and connections that come out of them.

Through close observation and lab experimentation, this high-energy comedy class will offer electrifying lessons on humor such as: impersonations, healthy gag humor, slapstick, comic strips, stand-up, ventriloquism, and witty situational. Whether your child is naturally funny or not, they will have the opportunity to develop and execute comedic skills, gain a higher sense of self-esteem, and perhaps learn to use humor in a social setting to be friendlier. SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER SELF-ESTEEM LAB School has ended and pools are open! There is no better time to work on children’s self-esteem and leadership skills under a more relaxed schedule. While building these skills is always a lifelong journey, this workshop is a great kick-off tool. This self-esteem lab experience offers incredibly fun activities to boost our children’s gifts and talents for the 2025/2026 school year. Everyone is good at something; we just must roll up our sleeves and figure it out. Through wacky summer themed dramatizations and experiences, kids will have the chance to cultivate self-worth and will not even realize they are working on it! What to expect? Interactive games like: Splash Pad Encounter, Lollipop Marathon, Seashell-Me, King’s Throne, Balloon Bust, Cotton Candy Concessions, and more! Kid’s emotional “buckets” will get filled and will likely be overflowing with confidence when they depart this class. Research shows that children who had opportunities to build self-esteem as a child, display higher leadership skills later in life.
